Empowering 500 New Shea Processors in Yunyoo
How our new processing hub is doubling the income of rural women in the North East region.
The sun had just begun to touch the horizon in Yunyoo when the first baskets of shea nuts arrived at our newly commissioned processing center. For years, the women of this community had worked in isolation, processing shea using traditional, labor-intensive methods that yielded low profits.
Today, that story changes.
A New Chapter for Value Addition
With the support of our latest infrastructure investment, we have equipped the Yunyoo cooperative with:
- Industrial-grade grinding mills.
- Improved filtration systems.
- Premium storage facilities to maintain nut quality.
Measurable Change
Within the first month of operation, the cooperative has seen:
- 40% Reduction in processing time.
- 25% Increase in price per kilo due to higher quality grading.
- 500 Households directly benefiting from stable offtake agreements.
“We no longer just farm,” says Alimatu, a cooperative member. “We are producers. We are business owners.”
This is the DAJRIM model in action—moving from the parched earth of survival to the rich soil of opportunity.
